Get to Know Me
Hi! I’m Kelly the owner of Strong Minds In Motion. I have 20 years of experience in the
mental health field as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and I am a certified personal trainer through Show UP
Fitness.

I have a master’s degree in counseling and am licensed to practice mental health
counseling in New York State.

Exercise and athletics have always been a part of my life. Throughout middle school
and high school I played soccer, basketball, and ran track.

I was a NCAA Division 1 athlete as a sprinter running track in college, and I am
currently a practitioner of Brazilian Jujitsu.

Physical activity has been a way for me to not only test myself and help me get out of
my comfort zone, but it also helps me to relieve stress and manage symptoms of
anxiety and depression. I have been through difficult situations and reframed my
mindset to feel happier, healthier, and more confident.

My everyday activity can include anything from meditation, journaling, strength training,
yoga and/or BJJ. It can also be time spent with my family outside whether it is sledding
in the winter, swimming or bike riding in the summer or just walking my dog.
I also believe in a having a growth mindset and continuing to learn not only through life
experience but also through research and articles regarding mental health, strength
training and nutrition.

I recognize the mind, body connection and how invaluable this connection can be to
sustain good mental and physical health. Throughout my experience I continue to see
people being told to start exercising and to get outside more. This can be very
challenging for someone who is experiencing symptoms of anxiety and/or depression.
They can lack motivation, confidence or simply don’t know where to start the process.
We will work together to develop a training plan that works for you, and we will meet to
work through limiting beliefs that continue to hold you back from your true potential.
I believe that if we challenge ourselves whether it be physically, or mentally we learn
what we can achieve. Through these challenges we learn our potential, and this will
begin to transform us; we can become more confident, be able to manage stress and be
capable of managing symptoms of anxiety and depression.

I am not a proponent of the “no pain no gain”. This saying is outdated and does not
make workouts sustainable or fun. I will meet you where you are and work with you on
when to push through and when to take a step back.

We will use exercise and strength training as the vehicle to improve your mental
wellness and improve your mindset.

Are you ready to become the most powerful version of you?
